To suspend or expel them will be the end of the FijiFirst Party’s political life, and the writing is already on the wall when it is in the opposition now.
FFP leader, Voreqe Bainimarama, is already suspended from Parliament and is in jail for the time being, with Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum also out of Parliament and awaiting his fate in his court case.
I challenge the FFP president Ratu Joji Satakala and general-secretary Faiyaz Koya to expel the 16 Parliamentarians (MPs) who voted for the salary increase.
That’s the FFP MP’s political right to exercise in Parliament for what they believe is right, and they cannot be gagged as they all deserve a pay rise.
If that’s the verdict from their party constitution, then our coalition Government Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka should also either suspend or expel all five NFP parliamentarians and call for an all-out fresh national election.
FijiFirst is heading for self-destruction realistically, and I would encourage the suspended MPs to form a new political party to contest the 2026 elections, as there is also too much interference from Saiyed-Khaiyum.
