The Chinese offer an alternative on international cooperation and diplomacy to the Western model.
They offer support instead of trying to impose their Chinese governance ideas as long they have access to natural resources.
The Chinese are willing to build infrastructures by bringing in their own engineers, financing infrastructure projects itself and without any demands to changes of laws of countries they are investing in.
As long as they are considered first in getting access to natural resources.
That is soft power at its greatest.
While the west, including Australia, are trying to impose their version of governance on other non-western countries, which alienate people in those nations.
Thus driving countries into the orbit of influence of the Chinese.
They offer close cooperation and non-intervention, which is appreciated by the global south or the global majority.
And this is why the Chinese and Russians are seen as reliable partners to do business with.
