Recent strong attempts to demonise the Chinese smack of racism and neo-colonialism attempts to reassert western global hegemony led by the U.S.
This is due to the Chinese many advances in all spheres from economic, trade, technological and social advances within and outside China.
We have to consider some positive impacts of the ascendancy of China to the top global order:
1. It has provided a cheap but high quality alternative to goods that were predominantly produced in the West which are very expensive.
2. Alternative source of funds for infrastructural development. An alternative to the World Bank, International Monetary Fun (IMF), etc.
Very reasonable terms as well to developing countries.
3. Alternative place for capacity building for engineers, technical people.
Universities in China are some of the best in the world and have been in the last 10 to 15 years.
4. It has the population to sustain its own economy.
Its leaders have realised that in the last 10 years the Chinese populace have the population capacity to be self reliant and absorb any shocks to the world economy and be less bothered about it.
5. Russia has made strong overtures and got into an alliance with the Chinese and all this due to the isolation attempts of the U.S and Europe.
Giving the Chinese land routes to Europe, Middle East thus to North Africa and the whole African continent via the Russian Federation.
6. Access to the largest natural resource base in the world.
Russia has an estimated $75 trillion dollars worth of minerals yet to be exploited. Just think about that.
This is apart from the vast gas, coal deposits etc in Russia.
All this resources can be accessed by China through overland routes instead of sea borne trade which is threatened by the U.S Naval Fleet who have supremacy on the high seas of the world.
7. Its cities are some of the most modern in the world with their modern infrastructures putting the West to shame.
8. Their companies in the electronics such as Huawei, electric vehicle manufacturing such as BYD are competing against and winning in some cases against big Western brands such as Tesla, Mercedes Benz and Cisco.
This has showed that the Chinese have made huge strides in the last 30 years from producing low quality items to high standards goods that are comparable or even surpassed what the West can conjure up.
The West are seeing the writing on the wall and they see that their decline is being accelerated.
Thus they try to demonise the Chinese especially to the Global south or the Global majority.
Unfortunately most of the Global South are not buying into the tactics of the West which is to divide and conquer.
