Sadly, it is what it is. The truth always hurts.
The long arm of the law finds its target in due course. No matter how long a “night” can be, the sun is sure to rise … (old saying).
With much restrained courage, I take this one moment in time, to sincerely thank the former leader of the Opposition and long-time former parliamentarian, Mick Beddoes, for sharing his “piece” with amazing clarity.
It is not my intention to rub “salt into wounds.” In time, wounds and hurts will heal. Fiji’s wheels and scales of justice are definitely turning and tipping, as they should.
For extended periods stretching 16-long years, some paid the ultimate price and sacrifice; many suffered in the ensuing heavy-handedness.
Even an admirable hard-working learned scholar and former citizen was denied interment at home in Labasa.
A former prime minister “removed” from office and incarcerated. Some bitter lessons must ensue.
Fiji must now learn and move on with courage. Man is man’s greatest enemy. Greed corrupts. Familiarity always breeds contempt. Complacency often rears its ugly head. The innocent suffer. These are lessons better learnt.
Human weaknesses, failures, limitations have been clearly exposed for the world to see. We are at this juncture in the inevitable passage of time.
The law must take its course. No one is above the law.
No matter how good we may think of our-selves, there is always some “lurking” who is distinguishably better. This must not be denied, under any circumstance.
