Letters: Security Forces

The nation’s security does not rely solely on the Fiji Police Force alone.

Crime occurs on a daily basis in various forms in every sect of society.

No matter which regime or rationale a nation holds, crime will be prevalent.

Manning every sect with all sorts of crime on its own will be and has been proven to be impossible. Issues of lack of personnel, etc, have been heard of but that does not mean nothing can be done.

Thus the use of manpower from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces should be used in every field of national maintenance.

Be it crime, infrastructure, environment, community management all require a regular clean hence they should be the helping hands in situations required.

We are fortunate Fiji is not a country that requires military patrol on our streets and we should forbid ourselves from reaching such a scenario.

The proper collaboration and utilisation of these two forces as and when required is essential.

Firstly they have to be honest to themselves with the allegiance of oath taken when they adorn these uniforms.

The act of misconduct or abuse of power by individuals within the forces needs to be corrected.

None can perform diligently differentiating with race, religion, district or vanua.

You are there to represent and serve the people and not any particular leader, race, regime or clan so let not yourselves be influenced by any.

The mindset of hierarchy, power and divisiveness needs to be uprooted else our nation will be deprived of Freedom and Justice for All.

We have to clear the rot within the lot. Only then will we be able to curb the rise of activities that cause our nation’s downfall.

Honour your Noble Banner Blue by maintaining peace within and among yourselves.

Peacekeeping duties begin at home

“In Fiji! neither of the forces are here for showbiz or any particular person or group to please, but the nation’s burden put at ease!”
