The talk of planting medicinal marijuana and harvesting it for the export market has re-emerged as a discussion subject.
This time, the permanent secretary for trade, Shaheen Ali, seems to be spearheading the discussion.
I am flabbergasted!
How can anyone talk of the subject without mentioning the devastating impact it will have on our society?
It is naive to say that it will create jobs and millions of dollars will roll into our economy.
It sounds good but hides a bitter truth that Fiji does not have the capacity to monitor any evil.
Tons of illegal drugs are brought into the country and the border security sleeps on the fence.
How can we control leakage when top officers get involved trying to make a fast buck?
It seems that decision-making powers have already made up their mind to introduce medicinal marijuana. It is only a matter of time before it is legalised and Pandora’s box of evil rears its ugly head.
It will be too late to put the genie back in the bottle.
Fiji is a tourist country and this exercise will have a far reaching devastating impact.
I am stuck dumb-founded that the Ministry of Health has not opposed the move.
It is they who will have to treat all the zombies that this exercise will create.
The crime rate will soar sky high. Social and religious values will crumble and churches and other religious houses will stand empty!
Family violence, abuse of children, divorces and myriads of evils will emerge.
This generation will pass but the next one will have tom face the music.
For Heaven’s sake, please do not destroy our pristine paradise! I vehemently oppose the move
