There is deep concern regarding the recent floods that devastated Nadi over the weekend. It is evident that the severity of the flooding was exacerbated by inadequate drainage systems in the area.
The consequences of this negligence were dire, with numerous businesses, residents, and tourists bearing the brunt of the destruction.
One cannot help but question the effectiveness of the Ministry of Waterways and Environment in addressing such critical issues.
Are they merely confined to their offices in Suva, neglecting the urgent needs of regions like Nadi?
It is disheartening to witness the apparent disparity in attention and resources allocated to different divisions, with the Central Division seemingly receiving preferential treatment.
The aftermath of these floods serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for comprehensive infrastructure improvements and proactive measures to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
The residents of Nadi deserve better.
They deserve a Government that prioritizes their safety and well-being, regardless of their geographical location. I hope someone prompts the authorities to address the root causes of the flooding and implement sustainable solutions to prevent future disasters.
