Can the Prime Minister include in his agenda the issue of the Fiji Rugby Union and Fiji as a whole being bullied by New Zealand Rugby and its CEO, Mark Robinson?
And sadly observed in silence by World Rugby and the Fijian public in their decision to hold the rugby test match between the NZ All Blacks and the Flying Fijians in the United States of America.
Although there has never been a test match between the two countries in Fiji, NZ Rugby, through CEO Mark Robinson, blatantly announced that the test match in the U.S.A is to promote the sport of rugby in the U.S.A and to further strengthen the sponsorship deals of the mighty All Black with U.S companies.
It is no mystery to see that they continue to regard us as a poor, powerless, ignorant ex-colony that will have no problem accepting this deal.
In fairness to Fiji, FRU should inform NZ Rugby and World Rugby that the July 2024 rugby test between the two countries which will be a historical first for Fiji, should be held in Fiji.
If they don’t agree then Fiji and FRU should withdraw from this event.
We should then approach countries who will respect us.
We are already the Olympic champion in 7s rugby. It’s the rugby XV that we should be concerned with.
