Letters: Language Loss

Language is developed by listening, applying, nourishing, garnishing, understanding, generalising and exposing.

Language learning begins at home and the socio environment one grows up in plays an impact on language adaptation.

Whichever ethnic background one belongs to it’s the exposure of their daily living in early years that matters.

Language spoken at home and those offered in schools aren’t necessarily the same.

Whichever religious body – all schools don’t practice multiple language or vernacular classes.

English is a common and global language and is used in every level and sphere.

Thus, people engage in it more frequently.

Another issue could be a difference in dialects – where one stays, grows and moves to with time has an effect.

With cross cultural marriages, which language is the child to follow?

So, exposure and choices made available in the learning arena plays a vital role in performing, enhancing and preserving one’s language and culture!
