LETTERS: Faith and Belief

Religion and worship is a matter of upbringing and choice. What one is taught in practice and exposed to from childhood to adulthood and the people they interact with plays a vital role.

There are similarities in Christianity and Islam. Muslims do recognise Jesus as a Messenger/Prophet of God – in other words give credit to His existence very much like Muhammad.

The principles of faith, prayer, alms, fasting have a match. tithes, offerings, donations to an organisation or needy in cash or kind, is a part of every religion. I’m sure those who flock to these events aren’t only newcomers, but believers also and one giving according to their free will.

Whether one kneels, bows or bends in whichever direction until one practices and faces the effects or defects will not and cannot make a pick lest forced into!

Few of the core principles of Islam and Christianity are: Love Thy Neighbour As You Love Thyself and Don’t Envy or Backbite. My point exactly -What is wrong with people who don’t adhere to principles of their own religion -”Don’t Blemish Until You Personally Experience It”!

*I write this letter in response to an article by Jan Nissar of Sydney published in the Fiji Sun dated 26/2/24.
