The change in the Fijian political climate has seen mushrooms suddenly popping up.
The first was ex-ACP Henry Brown who was reported to have absconded overseas to avoid being investigated suddenly taking the centrestage and advising the Acting COMPOL what to do.
Surprisingly, the local newspapers are buying into his diatribe and giving front page space to his blabbering. Lo and behold, the Acting COMPOL seems to be also playing subservient to his clinical doses by agreeing with what he has to say.
If Henry Brown had any iota of allegiance to his duties as a police officer, why did he not ring the alarm bells when he knew that things were not done right. He now appears like a mushroom from nowhere and tries to be relevant.
Also, the front page of another daily (26/2) features an ex-board member of the Fiji Sugar Corporation, who accuses the previous board (of which he was part of) of “just talk and no action.”
He accuses the board of “making many wrong decisions” yet he did not ring the alarm bells presumably to save his own pocket.
Now he appears like a mushroom and wants to offer support to the FSC Board.
Why do we have to give prominence to these spent forces. If they have issues of corruption and bribery, or anything else, they should front up to the relevant agencies and not feature on the front pages of newspapers.
They had their chances and they blew them.
