The crowd seemed to multiply in my view on almost every occasion, with additional schools joining the annual party each year.
For more than 40 years, this part of the world’s largest annual secondary schools athletic meet has been the highlight of the Fiji Secondary School Athletic Association calendar.
However, nearly all of the ‘athletes’ who went through the process, only reached the Pacific Oceania Games level as the maximum benchmark.
Very little has been done by the sponsor for the professional training and advancement towards the apex of their ultimate achievement.
Who is milking the rewards? The sponsor always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity for its own benefits.
We do not know when the relevant government authority will realise such a “student-athlete exploitation” event that has been happening right in our backyard.
