For the past six days and counting, I have not seen a single drop of water from our taps.
There was rain early yesterday and yet not a drop of water in the taps. Like the Neanderthals before us, it was a rain bath yesterday morning, then work.
And for the ‘Waterless Advisory of Fiji’, another apologetic advisory with the same scratched record excuse of blockage, siltage, and rubbish, if there was one.
The last advisory was on Sunday. No resolution to correct the problem.
And it looks bad for upper Tamavua residents because if it rains for the entire month, there will still be no water!
We might have to resort to buying clothes every fortnight because we cannot wash our clothes.
The rest of Suva and Nasinu get water.
Why is it always necessary to shut the water off at upper Tamavua? No advisory explains this.
As of today, we have had more advisories than water itself.
Suva’s water engineers do not shut off the advisories, only the water.
And being tasked with one job only to provide water for all citizens, we in upper Tamavua continue a desert-like living inside the house, while rain pours with abandonment outside! And still no water.
