The purpose of this letter is not to point fingers or score brownie points.
The Ministry of Health consistently tries to educate men over 50 to get tested for prostate cancer.
For the second time in the last 12 months, my blood samples have been taken for testing and have yielded no results. Blood samples taken from me on April 17; 13 days later, still no results available.
This is a worrying situation which must be remedied, with utmost urgency, in my view.
Will the honourable Health Minister please investigate what is causing this situation to exist?
Are there insufficient reagents available in West Viti Levu to properly test blood? Is there sufficient room available for local lab testing at MoH expense? This delay is unpalatable.
Besides, is there any way to extend 70-plus retirees some priority treatment in Nadi Hospital SOPD or do we continue to be lumped in with the 30, 40 and 50-year-olds who seat and await their turns? We left home at 7:10am without breakfast. We finally got attended to well after 10am. Clinics did not commence at 8:00am. They began like 9am. Please check to prove me wrong.
Can Nadi Hospital do better? I pose my questions with care and due concern. How many more SOPD patients suffer similar consequences?
