The walkway along Stinson Parade in Suva is still a popular stretch along the seawall, for relaxing and leisure activities.
The place is in good condition with seating benches where one can sit and enjoy the beautiful sun set or witnessing the ship movement in the passage. However, the electrical works are in an appalling state as the wiring attached to the green trees during the Christmas period for decoration are still there and many sagging wires are lying on the ground.
There are about more than 10 streetlights placed between the seating benches and three lampposts has lost the cover of the servicing chambers.
The seating benches is about a feet away from the hazardous poles and just above the basement ground level.
The uncovered opening approximately 18 inches in length and eight inches wide.
It is very evident with the use of the sticky tape the threat was covered with cardboards but was destroyed in the adverse weather condition.
It startles me to know such hazards are in the heart of the city and a stone throw away from the municipality office.
The exposed wires and the electrical components are a menace to the public and the council must eliminate the huge risk without any delay.
