‘Bravehearts’
Pranil Ram, Nadi
Listening and reading to the ordeals experienced by people during Tropical Cyclone Winston is very frightening, scary and makes my eyes fill with tears.
Some have lost their loved ones while others are lucky to be alive.
Reports surfacing about the damage to properties and loss of lives by TC Winston is almost unprecedented in the whole of the Pacific.
While some may or may not have been commended publicly for their act of bravery, I strongly believe these people are heroes in their homes, villages and communities.
The ordeals encountered will long live in their memories and told as stories to the future generation.
I am sure these people are ‘Bravehearts’ because after experiencing such life-threatening ordeals and some even losing their loved ones the people have continued to live on.
Some were even so bravehearted that they gave up their lives to save others.
Japan message
Mahendra Hargovind, Suva
At 9.15am I called the Embassy of Japan seeking assistance to read and tell me what the two pages of a user manual written in Japanese meant and no one could assist me there.
When I asked the name of the person I was talking to she refused to give me her name.
She even would not let me speak to anyone else there.
Used Hybrid cars are imported in to Fiji in large numbers.
The car stereo that comes with the car will not work if the battery gets flat during shipment.
After recharging the battery for the car stereo to operate one has to follow the instruction in the manual.
Since the instruction is in Japanese the buyers here in Fiji are unable to use the car stereo.
