I refer to the Fiji Sun report ‘Woman allegedly dies inside police station’ (FS 19/2).
It’s a bad look on police professional standards when an 81-year-old woman is picked up from her home by an all-male police squad, taken to a police station for interrogation, collapses at the station and dies.
Makes one wonder what happened to all the training, including gender sensitive training, the Fiji Police Force is said to have undergone?
There is clearly no evidence of that in the manner in which this case was handled.
Let’s see what the police internal investigation into this tragic death of the elderly woman, while in police custody, reveals.
