Letters To The Editor: Claims Against Gavoka

There are claims Viliame Gavoka is on re­cord for saying he personally will see and guarantee the full Fiji Airways’-Israel char­ter cost payment from the Ministry of Tour­ism budget.

Isn’t that corruption?

But what powers does he have to commit unbudgetted costs unwit­tingly at his disposal?

Taking advantage of his ministerial posi­tion to further his alleged personal innuen­dos is against good principles, unethical, wrong, divisive and unchristian of the Min­ister for Tourism, Civil Aviation and Educa­tion.

There is nothing great in addressing him as an Honourable MP because there is nothing honourable for his actions, if the claims are true.

If he has a degree of guilt, dignity and com­monsense left in him, I suggest that he re­signs and clear his name.

Or does he have too much pride to lose?

I recall in one of his past speeches in par­liament (2022), Mr Gavoka boasted he was a successful businessman, having managed the popular Fiji Mocambo Hotel and famous Shangri-La Fijian Resort, for so many years.

That’s a different picture to an authoritative MP.
