For the benefit of many poorer members of the community, in my view, with many drug issues, poverty, drunkards are not being able to get back home before sunrise, it may not be wise for each nightclub in Martintar, Nadi, to operate beyond lam during this festive season.
Almost all the clubs are not properly sound proofed. Please, prove me wrong. No authority has the burden of oversight. Our police force does not have instruments needed to legally check music sound levels.
Our town council cannot check for disturbance of peace. At night music travels.
Residences up to 200 metres away from any nightclub suffer disturbance of the peace. No authority really cares in this area of inconvenience.
The elderly, the sick and infants suffer in silence.
The closure of our nightclubs beyond 1am cannot be recommended during this festive season as many cannot handle alcohol responsibly.
Besides, a dollar saved at the bar easily translates into a white loaf of bread for children and families at home. This is a known fact.
